Author: Cathar1950 Posted: Fri Nov 24, 2006 12:48 am (GMT -4) Topic Replies: 45 When was the conquest of Jebus/Jerusalem? Joshua 12:8 says Joshua gave the land of the Jebusites to Israel. Joshua 15:63 says the tribe of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites who remain there "to this day". Judges 1:8 say the men of Judah took it after Joshua's death. Judges 1:21 says that the tribe of Benjamin could not drive out the out the Jebusites who dwelt in Jerusalem. Gibeah is outraged that Jerusalem is still in Canaanite hands in Judges 19:10-12. Then 2 Samuel 5:6,7 that King David takes it and that is was independent until then. Which is right? Did Joshua take it or Judah or David?
